Dogs can now be imported and verified from the Dogs Australia database (Registry), these dogs we call 'Registry Dogs'. When the dog is converted to a Registry Dog, the pedigree and owner information of the dog cannot be changed. However, some personal details can still be changed. If the details of the dog change in the Registry, there is a refresh process that can update the details of your dog in ShowManager.
Converting your dog to a Registry Dog will also allow you to share your dog between accounts and control access to who can view and enter the dog. Results and certificates will also be available to all accounts that have access to the dog.
The Registry Dog will appear as a button and have a border around the dog's registration number when you view your list of dogs. If the dog is not a Registry Dog they will appear as a normal link and will not have a border around the number. A Registry Dog can't be converted to a Non Registry Dog.
Convert a dog to a 'Registry Dog'
From the Dogs Details page, click on the 'Check for dog updates' button.
MENU > My Area > My Dogs > Registration Number > 'Check for dog updates'
The dog's details are imported from the Registry and compared with the existing information in your account to verify the information is correct. Any differences in the dog's information will be displayed, the most common difference will be the name of the dog. The name is now split between their Titles, Prefixes, Name and suffixes. Save the changes to accept.
Add New Registry Dog
From the list of dogs, click on the 'Add New Dog' button.
MENU > My Area > My Dogs > 'Add New Dog'
Input the dog's Registration Number and Owner Number to search for the dog, and click on 'Save' to add the dog to your account.
Edit a 'Registry Dog'
When you edit the dog, you will only be able to update some personal information that will remain unique to your account and your entries. Some examples of this information are Call Name, Club Represented, Jump Heights (Dog Sports), and personal notes.
When the details of the dog change in the registry, click on the 'Check for Updates' button from the Dogs Details page. This process will compare the current information with the information in the registry and display any differences. Click on save to accept the changes.
Security Access Levels
Access levels for the dog are controlled by the dog's 'Administrator'. There can be one or many administrators. Other access levels available are;
- View Dog - Allows the user to view the dog's details and results
- Edit Dog - Allows the user to 'Check for Updates'
- Enter Dog In Events - Allows the user to enter the dog into events.
When you migrate the dog to a registry dog or add the dog to your account, you will become the Administrator. If the dog already has an administrator, the system will send an email to the current administrator with instructions on how to enable access to the dog.
How to Grant Access
When a security request is sent the system will email the Administrator with instructions, click on the link in the email and the system will take you to the 'Security Access' tab for the dog. From the Security Access tab, you can authorise access by clicking on the 'Authorise' button.
